TSA Suspends Enrollment in Clear Program

According to their website, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has suspended new enrollments in the Registered Traveler (aka Clear®) program due to vulnerabilities in the storage of new applicant data, when a computer was found missing from SFO on July 26th.

The freeze is meant to protect the identities of current applicants while Verified Identity Pass, Inc. (VIP) brings its procedures into compliance. Current and existing Clear (VIP) members and passengers will not be affected by the freeze and the TSA claims to still be committed to partnering with the private sector to achieve flight efficiency.
